My Story

Hi, I’m Linda — welcome to Six Months To Change My Life.

This is a personal blog about resetting my life through small, honest changes — one week at a time.

For most of my adult life, I’ve been someone who keeps going no matter what. I’ve worked hard, cared for others, and tried to stay positive even when life felt overwhelming. But somewhere along the way, I stopped taking care of myself.

After surviving colon cancer and now living with kidney disease, much of my life has revolved around hospital appointments, dialysis, and unpredictable energy levels. While this has taught me resilience, it’s also led to long periods of physical exhaustion and emotional fatigue. Over time, I began to withdraw — from people, from goals, and from the version of myself I used to be.

I also live with bipolar disorder and have struggled for many years with confidence, depression, mood swings, and emotional instability. During difficult times, I relied on alcohol as a coping mechanism — a way to escape when life felt too heavy. More recently, I’ve realised it’s also become something that keeps me stuck.

I’m very aware that my life isn’t where I want it to be.

And I know something has to change.

My Balanced Life Reset

I’ve given myself six months to reset my life. I’m 59 now, and in six months I’ll turn 60. I want to begin my next decade feeling physically and emotionally healthier.

This reset isn’t about perfection or pretending everything is fine. It’s about learning how to live well with what I can’t control, while taking responsibility for what I can.

My goals are simple, but meaningful:

  • improving my physical and mental wellbeing

  • reducing my reliance on alcohol and building healthier coping strategies

  • reconnecting with the world around me

  • rebuilding motivation and working towards personal goals

What This Blog Is About

Each week, I share the real process of restarting my life — the reflections, struggles, and small wins along the way.

This blog focuses on:

  • personal growth

  • wellbeing and lifestyle

  • recovery and resilience

  • finding purpose and balance

I don’t have all the answers, but I believe that asking honest questions — and listening to the answers — is a powerful place to start.

A Message for You

If you’ve ever looked at your life and thought, “I can’t keep doing this,” you’re not alone.

It’s never too late to start again. Change doesn’t have to be dramatic — it just has to be honest.

That’s what I’m trying to do here.

Thanks for being part of the journey. 🌱
