This week, I reflected on what drains me and what supports me. Here’s a clear breakdown of what I’ve learned so far — the things that hurt, the things that help, and the lessons I’m taking forward.
What Hurts
(things that quietly drain me or block progress)
Ignoring how much kidney disease affects my energy and focus
Trying to push through fatigue instead of working with it
Starting too many things at once and finishing very little
Mood swings and mental noise from bipolar disorder
Alcohol masking discomfort but making everything harder later
Avoiding uncomfortable truths because they feel overwhelming
What Helps
(strategies and actions that support me)
Having a weekly schedule — even when I don’t stick to it perfectly
Accepting limited energy instead of fighting it
Doing fewer things, more intentionally
Observing patterns without judgement
Writing down the real impact of alcohol instead of minimising it
Identifying excuses and triggers rather than denying them
Taking change one day at a time
What I’m Learning
(insights that guide my approach)
Awareness reduces chaos.
Structure creates stability.
Honesty is a form of progress
Going Forward
(how I plan to apply these lessons)
My aim isn’t perfection or dramatic transformation. It’s to reduce negative energy, protect my capacity, and make choices that support the life I’m trying to build.
